Angela Fowler
Angela volunteers her time mentoring blind youth. With the Holman Prize, she would begin selling her homemade beef jerky commercially, partnering with blind experts in consulting, marketing and sales.
Peggy Martinez
Peggy is a musician. She would use the Holman Prize to explore the music scene in various cities across the world, evaluate accessibly of the locations, and log the experience on social media.
Matthew Shifrin
Matthew plays the accordion. With the Holman Prize, he would create Blind Guy Travels, an immersive 3D audio podcast that allows listeners to experience different locations worldwide through sound.
Natalie & Sarina
Natalie loves yoga and Sarina practices jiu jitsu. With the Holman Prize, they would create an online platform that focuses on blindness awareness and accessibility training for employers and organizations.
Pauline Dowell
Pauline and her guide dog live on a sailboat on the Boston Harbor. She would use the Holman Prize to form an all-female crew of blind sailors to compete in the 2020 Newport to Bermuda Race.
Note: Originally, Pauline was going to complete in the Marblehead to Halifax Race. Since this will will not take place again until 2021, she has changed it to the more difficult Newport to Bermuda Race.
Fernando Botelho
Fernando’s work in social services has helped people across multiple continents. With the Holman Prize, he would teach blind people how to build accessible, low cost computers.
Shannon Quignon
Shannon loves the book, The Scarlet Pimpernel. With the Holman Prize, she would create a consulting business to help companies understand how to make their products and services more accessible to people who are blind and low vision.
Hawa & Abdoulaye
Hawa and Abdoulaye work to help disabled students in their country of Burkina Faso. With the Holman Prize, they would a fund training center where blind people would be trained in tanning, soap making and juice making.
