In 2006, Dev Datta established the first audio library for the blind in South Asia. With the Holman Prize, he would develop resources for blind people in Nepal to learn science, technology, engineering and math.

Maureen plays the trombone and is a marine biologist. She would use the Holman Prize to travel to various beaches to study the effects of plastic waste on small crustacean creatures known as amphipods.
